Guana Cay

What to do in Guana Cay

Guana Cay is where you come if you're looking for peace and quiet. Walk the several miles long beach where you see only a few people, or snorkel, swim or scuba dive. You can rent a bicycle or a golf cart to get around, but you can walk everywhere from the cottage. Guana Cay has many restaurants and bars, a grocery store, a liquor store, a drug store, several souvenir stores and a brand new lunch restaurant next to the ferry dock.

If you're feeling lazy and don't feel like cooking, you can enjoy the specialties of the informal restaurants around. Nipper's has an air conditioned indoor restaurant, as well as an outdoor area, and at Grabber's you can watch the swimming pool and the beach (and the sunset) as you eat, and at Pirates Cove you can watch the life in the harbor.

Visit Hope Town

Hope Town is the most charming town in the Abaco's, situated on Elbow Cay, only a 15 minutes ferry ride from Marsh Harbour. You can rent a boat in Guana Cay or take the ferry to Marsh Harbour, and then a new ferry to get to Hope Town. Ferry schedule here.

Visit Marsh Harbour

Marsh Harbour is the "Capitol" of the Abaco's, situated on Great Abaco, the largest island in the Abacos. This is where the airport is and from there you take the ferry to the islands. Marsh Harbour is also convenient for grocery shopping.

Visit Man-O-War

Man-O-War is an idyllic cay only 15 minutes by ferry from Marsh Harbour. You can walk around on this peaceful island an entire day. You'll find the sail shop where they make the famous man-o-war bags, large and small. There is no alcohol served on this island, but you can get food!

Beach Bars & Restaurants

  • The famous Nipper's Beach Bar with its Sunday pig roast is only a short walk from the cottage.

  • On the way to Nipper's you can stop at Pirate's Cove Tikibar for a refreshment. Open for coffee in the mornings too.

  • Grabber's is the nearest Beach Bar & Restaurant. Right on the beach of the Sea of Abaco.
